Moms and Dads Flock to Facebook NPR’s “Patt Morrison” 89.3 MPCC Facebook, with more than 62 million active members, has changed the way people socialize. Once you become “friends” with another member, you can see his or her entire profile, often complete with party photographs, relationship status updates, movie preferences, restaurant reviews, travel logs and political causes. But Facebook – formally a social networking site for the young – has attracted more and more older members. Last fall, the fastest growing demographic was people 35 years and older. Patt Morrison looks at why older generations are joining Facebook, and how they interact with a virtual sea of youngsters. GUESTS: - Eric Kuhn, New media consultant and a junior at Hamilton College; he has blogged about the etiquette of social networking - Mike Musgrove, Tech columnist for the Washington Post; he wrote an article for the post about his first time joining Facebook - Barbara Strauss, Family court attorney and recent Facebook member (she is 53)
