Hamilton Student To Host CNN’s Richard Quest on College Radio Station E-Mail Questions Sought for Monday’s Show
Clinton, N.Y. - First-year Hamilton College student Eric Kuhn has met some interesting people. That is, if you consider the Rev. Al Sharpton interesting: not to mention Congresswoman Nita Lowy and her opponent Richard Hoffman (the only journalist to interview both candidates during their race), former U.S. Senator Bob Kerry, Andy Serwer, editor at large for Fortune Magazine and commentator on CNN’s ‘American Morning,’ and Jack Cafferty, commentator on CNN’s ‘Situation Room’ and host of ‘In the Money.’ And this is just the list of celebrities he met during his senior year of high school. Kuhn, along with Hastings High School classmate Justin Mandel, became the driving force behind WHHS, a program they created that aired on WHoH, Hastings public access cable station. Eric became the host of the program’s newscasts and was able to interview the aforementioned celebrities for his show, due to a great degree to his persistence and nerve
Eric’s next big interview is scheduled Monday, Dec. 5, at 4 - 5 p.m. on the airwaves of Hamilton’s radio station, WHCL 88.7 FM. He will be interviewing his mentor, Richard Quest, one of CNN’s most high profile news and business anchors. Quest has been a correspondent at the World Economic Forum, an anchor from Rome during coverage of the funeral of Pope John Paul II, the L.A. Riots and many other events around the world. Quest isn’t a mentor to Kuhn in the traditional sense of the term; they have never met or spoken to each other before. They have been trading e-mails for years and it all started when Eric wrote an e-mail complimenting Quest’s work and looking for advice. It was the tone of Kuhn’s e-mail that intrigued Quest enough to write back; and the rest is history.
On Monday, the two will talk for the first time in a phone interview on Hamilton’s radio station. Kuhn will interview Quest and welcomes questions from listeners e-mailed to
He reports that he is in conversation with several other high profile celebrities about possible interviews on his show next semester. ###
